What is kinesiology and how does it work?

What is kinesiology?

Kinesiology, as we use it today, was developed by an American chiropractor, George Goodheart in 1964. He became famous for being able to solve health problems that no one else could and he taught these techniques to chiropractors, osteopaths, medical doctors and dentists. Various branches of kinesiology have been developed, based on the core concepts of kinesiology formed by George Goodheart. I am trained in systematic knesiology. The aim of all branches of kinesiology is to work holistically with clients to address their imbalances and rebalance their system in order to work towards optimal health and well-being.

The Muscle Test
The core tool of kinesiology is the muscle test. Rather than testing physical strength, I use it to monitor the body's neurological response. By applying gentle pressure to a specific muscle, usually in the arm or leg, I can identify how the nervous system is responding to different stressors.

The Systemic Connection
Each muscle is linked to a specific organ or body system via energy channels known as meridians. You may have heard of these before - they are the same meridians used in acupuncture. When a muscle shows as being unable to resist gentle pressure, it signals that the associated system is imbalanced. This allows me to move past the symptoms and investigate exactly what the body needs at that point in time.

Bespoke Support
Depending on the feedback from your body, I provide targeted support to resolve the root cause of the imbalance. This process may involve:

  • Structural & physical support: Rubbing or gently holding specific points on the body known as neuro-lymphatic and neuro-vascular points to improve drainage and circulation

  • Biochemical & emotional balance: Recommending nutritional support or using Bach Flower Remedies (e.g. rescue remedy) to ease emotional stress

  • Energetic realignment: Clearing blockages within the meridian system to restore the body’s natural energy flow

By addressing these elements directly, we provide the body with the specific tools it needs to heal itself, allowing symptoms to be alleviated and you to feel like you again.
